Ursa Major & Ursa Minor

Two of the most popular constellations people name is the Big Dipper and the Little Dipper. But did you know that they have more professional names? Thats right, these star clusters that resemble spoons are actually called Ursa. The Ursa Major is commonly called the Big Dipper, Ursa Minor is of course the Little Dipper. But these aren't the only names they have. They are also known as Great Bear and Little Bear.

Ursa Major

Ursa Major is used when attempting to find the north star known as Polaris! This can be done by looking for the right upper corner of the dipper and going north until finding the Little Dipper. The Big Dipper is only one part of this constellation, the rest is what helps resemble the bear.
